Ratio and proportion By Harjun & Kamal
Today Year 4 has been making some fruit cocktails. We had loads of fun.We used different flavours of squash. Some of were finding the proportion, percentages and decimals. We had to taste a lot of unusual flavours. Some of them tasted very peculiar. If the ratio is close like 2:3 it might taste really strong. But if it is a ratio like 1: 6 it will be weaker.

Numeracy Ratio and proportion

In Numercay we have been working on ratio and proportion. Yesterday we were working on ratio with liquids and making drinks following different ratios. We had to think about how much juice and lemonade we needed to match the ratio. We then got to drink it!. For our warm up we have looked at a program called furbles. Mrs Griffiths was telling us the questions and we had to write them in either ratio or proportion. Before the holidays we used rainbow drops, and sorted them into colours with ratio first then proportion. We have learnt a lot about ratio and proportion thanks to Mrs Griffiths. We hope we can move back to it again.

Oh! What a good way of learning proportion! It’s so fun and I’m sure you have learnt a lot because you have been experimenting the consequences of having one or another proportion πŸ™‚

    Great way of teaching/learning!
