Moving and Growing by Hammaad

Skeleton and bonesIn science we have been learning about moving and growing. Last week we learned about the skeletons in humans and other animals. A skeleton helps a body to be straight so we don’t flop like a jelly fish. The skeleton protects our organs- kidneys, lungs, heart and brain. The brain is the most important because it sends electrical messages to our body parts. There is also a skull, ribs, skeleton and spine that are all bones. The skeleton helps us to move and balance. Some animals have different types of skeletons. Humans have an endoskeleton which means their skeleton is on the inside. But some animals like a crab have their skeleton on the outside. Others have a hydro skeleton like a jelly fish which means it doesn’t have bones.
Muscles
Today we learned about muscles in our science lesson. We watched a funny video which taught us about muscles. Miss Martindale will put it on the blog later. There are more than 600 muscles in our body. They help us get stronger and sizeable. When you are older your muscles get weaker. There are 3 types of different muscles, 1.smooth Involuntary 2. Cardiac 3.skeletal|voluntary. Smooth are the muscles that work automatically without us thinking about it. Cardiac this is your heart muscle, it pumps blood around your body to deliver oxygen to the muscles. Skeletal muscles are the muscles you have to decide to use and control. E.g bicep and triceps to move your arm which are attached to the bones by tendons.
